Party Games For Girls

Halloween is the perfect time to let your daughter hold a slumber party. Beyond the usual DVDs, you need to include some fun slumber party activities to keep everyone involved and having fun.

One of my daughters’ favorites is to do pumpkin carving. Best of all, the inside of the pumpkin could be used to make a delicious pumpkin soup or pie. Deciding whether you involve the girls in the cooking will develop on their age.

Telling age-appropriate scary stories is also fun, and you can’t beat getting all the girls to dress up in costumes to make the event go off with a bang!

Kids Princess Party Games

It’s widely accepted that little girls love pretending to be princesses. If you’re holding a princess party, and want some ideas for some suitable kids princess party games, then here is a suggestion that everyone will enjoy.

The game is called Princess Goes Shopping. Sitting in a circle, all of the girls close their eyes. In the middle, you put a sack which contains some sweets and some Disney princess party favors.

And in this parcel...

Taking turns, each girl puts one hand into the sack and pulls out a prize (it’s a good idea to have some Disney princess party favors on standby in case some girls get sweets and no Disney princess party favors!).

On picking out a prize, each girl has to invent a story of why she purchased that particular item. No story can be repeated, and it’s lots of fun to watch the girls try and conjure up ever-increasingly weird stories!

When planning a party or a play-date for girls, it’s vital that you give some thought to what group party games and birthday party activities can be included.

Not only are they are a way of keeping the girls entertained, but they also assist in teaching them social skills. They’re great for you too, as they give you a chance to focus on what else needs to be prepared for the party.

party games for girlsMaking the choice of which party games to include will depend on many factors, including (a) the guests’ ages, gender and preferences, (b) the venue, (c) whether the games are indoor party games or outdoor party games, (d) when the games will be played (e.g. a slumber party will need more games than a usual party, and not all games are suitable for slumber party games) and (e) whether there is a theme (e.g. a mystery theme will require mystery party games, and a princess theme will require princess party games).

Three golden rules to remember when planning party games for girls are:

  • It’s often more straightforward (and easier on the purse) to hold the party at home
  • Girls love to be involved and challenged, so get them to suggest games that they want to play
  • Theme parties (where everyone comes in character) already stand out from the usual parties and are a great way to invent new party games by adapting the rules of traditional party games to suit the theme.

Giving the girls a hand in creating the party will ensure that the party is unique and that the guests enjoy themselves and are engaged.

Have fun!
