Regardless of what the weather is like outside, outdoor party games are enjoyed by all children: it’s just a case of involving them.

Allowing the partygoers to play outside in your yard (or a park, properly supervised), will give you some time to organize things inside. It also means that when the children return inside, they’ll be a bit more tired and less likely to run around inside too! Not only that, but it will get them to enjoy some physical exercise.

Choosing which games to play should be easy. You could ask the partygoers what they want to play, or you could use the following idea as a start.

Stuck In The Mud is a great way to get everyone running around and enjoying themselves. Basically, one person is the Tagger at the start, and must try and tag everyone else in the group. If the Tagger touches another person, that person is ‘stuck’ until another free person runs under their arm or between their legs to free them. If the Tagger gets everyone, she wins.

An interesting alternate version is where, if someone has been ‘stuck’ three times, on the fourth time, they also become a Tagger.
