Mystery party games need not involve anything to do with m*u*r*d*e*r(!). Obviously, they can; it’s up to you, but this will depend on the age of the girl whose party you’re planning.
The mystery could revolve around who ted-napped the teddy or where the group will be going on a trip or where the birthday cake is.

You could give the partygoers instructions before they arrive at the party as to what the mystery is and what they have to figure out. Maybe everyone has a piece of the clue, and everyone else has to get as many of these as possible. Perhaps the girls are only allowed to ask each other questions in a specified character or do so avoiding a particular word (or words beginning with a particular letter).
The options are pretty endless. I’ve found it really entertaining to have my girls figure out what they would like the mystery to be. This makes the party really unique and means they’ll remember it for years to come.
